I believe everyone has dreams, goals and the desire to do something great with their lives. It’s part of what makes us humans. Ask yourself, “What is that one thing I’d like to accomplish in my life?”
As strong as the desire is to accomplish something great in our lives, most people never do because they fail to take action, to take necessary steps to get there. But, why? Does this always have to be the case? I was once told that the most expensive piece of real estate is the cemetery, because its tombs are filled with dreams, goals, and desires never accomplished. People took all their dreams to the grave. How sad. Dreams and goals die when we fail to take action.
Now, many times, people fail to take action because they believe the goal or dream is too big to accomplish. They become overwhelmed with the mere idea, which leads to self-doubt, which leads to fear, which leads to…inaction.
But what if we saw our hopes and dreams differently? What if we saw them as trees? Think about it, every tree began as a tiny seed. The tree didn’t just spring up to its full size over night. We don’t plant a tiny seed today and expect a huge tree the next, right? That would be illogical. The seed had to be planted in good soil, fed and nurtured with water and good nutrients, and even protected so birds and insects wouldn’t eat it. However, over time, that tiny seed will sprout, grow, and eventually become the tree it was meant to be. It has to!
And so it is with those goals and dreams. Don’t ever get overwhelmed with the size of your dreams. Take action everyday to plant your seed in the fertile ground of a positive mind, a determined heart, and a hopeful spirit. Feed, nurture, and protect your ideas, your vision, and your dreams every single day. Never give up on them. Take tiny seed-sized action steps. Give it time, and eventually you will see the fruit of your patience and perseverance.
