It’s difficult to turn the news on these days and not hear of how mad the economy is for some people. Right? Now, I know all about how “sucky” the economy could be; things didn’t necessarily look promising when I was inside the dumpster. And, perhaps, you are also experiencing the same kind of “Dumpster Moment” in your life right now. Not enough money to do the things you want…heck, not enough money for the things you NEED.
No matter where you find yourself today, financially speaking, it doesn’t have to be that way! There are things you can do to make things better for yourself. But, let me warn you, it will take time and effort. If you’re not will to come up with those two ingredients, stop reading.
Are you still reading? Awesome! Let me give you a few things you can do, things I’ve done to make my situation go from the Dumpster to the penthouse (not really in a penthouse, but I’m getting closer! :-)).
- Find your passion. What is it that you like to do? Define it. For me, it’s teaching. Chances are you will do much better and increase your income if you do something you’re passionate about, not to mention, you will actually enjoy it. So, what is it? Is it talking to people, photography, music, fashion, beauty, art, fitness, selling…
- Become an expert…or, at least, start working towards it. My advice is to learn as much as possible about your passion. Spend the time and, yes, the money to buy a book, attend a class, and participate in a workshop, whatever you must do to become the best at it. I am a voracious learner and have spent many years trying to become an expert in my field, and it’s been worth every second of it.
- Open up shop! Now, this is the exciting thing about our economy today. You don’t necessarily need to open an expensive boutique in order to open a business. You can do it right from your own living room! Online businesses are a great way to better your financial profile, without having to quit your job! For some ideas, click here.
Pretty cool, right? Now, what are you going to do about it. Are you going to complain about how bad things are, or are you going to do something about it? Let me know what you decide to do, or if you need any coaching on how to do it!
